Change happens so fast.
It seems that when life changes, it happens so fast.
I adjusted to my parents point in time, I adjust to my childrens point in time and thus I adjust to my point in time.

Distant Connections
It’s a very odd feeling when acquiring other peoples possessions “legally” and going through the boxes unwrapping each piece to reveal things I have never seen before, and then coming across something that I remember seeing when it belonged to someone else and realize it is mine now. I feel a strange sense of responsibility.

A Story, A Message.
It has become a cliche’ to say, “if I only had a rich Uncle.” I had an Aunt. She died last summer and I inherited her estate. Although she had a lot of stuff, she was not rich. Years ago I heard the term, “Affluent Poor.” You have seen the commercial of the smiling man talking about all the stuff he has and membership to the country club,then he says, “somebody help me, I’m in debt up to my eyeballs!” The affluent poor has a lot of things but no money. That describes my aunt. She had a lot of stuff. The house was a collection center for items gathered resulting in the deaths of those who went before her. From her mother, my Grandmother, to her husband and her son.
As I searched through the house, packing as I went, a story unfolded, and a message came through. At least to me, a message from a sad story. It didn’t have to be that way. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Memorial Weekend 2005
It dawned on me over the last three days or maybe more that in just 3 short years the family cabin at the Lake of The Ozarks will be 50 years old. It was built in 1958. I asked my Dad today if he could remember the actual month it was actually finished. I didn’t truly expect him to remember but he has surprised me at times, at 82 years old and some dementia setting in. I was only 5 years old then and even though I can remember a lot of things from then, details like that usually escape me.
With the 50th Anniversary looming and on my mind all weekend, I had a lot of things going on in my head.
